Leadership Team Recognised at Student Leaders Event

The MRHS – Wade Student Leadership Team were recognised for their hard work today at the Griffith City Council Annual Student Leaders Event.

The team took their place among student leaders from across the Shire and enjoyed presentations from Mayor Doug Curran, Helen Dalton (Member for Murray) and Greg Warren (Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier). The Captains and Vice Captains also received a pin and certificate from the Griffith City Council to celebrate their time as school leaders.

“Leadership and popularity aren’t always the same thing,” warned Helen Dalton MP in her presentation, “In these days of algorithms and social media, being popular can seem like the most important goal. Especially to young people.”

“But leadership sometimes means going against the easy and popular thing to do. At least initially,” Mrs Dalton continued, ”As Martin Luther King Jr said ‘A genuine leader is not a researcher for consensus but a moulder of consensus.’”
