Wade managed to take the bronze at yesterday’s basketball gala day at the Griffith Regional Sports Centre.
The opening game against recently demerged rivals MRHS - Griffith got the team off to a rocky start, with the team taking a fairly serious loss at the hands of their sister school (44 – 21). A win (44 -21) against Regional Access Program put the team back on track for the semi-finals against Coleambally. The team made another clear win over the Central School (45 – 29) taking third place overall in the comp.
Ashton Menegazzo displayed impressive athleticism throughout the day and Tyrone Granger’s work in point guard was essential to the team’s success. Josh Turner, Brody Summers and Javier Bruce were also solid on the boards and provided a strong back court.
“It was great day for our boys to get out there and have a go,” explains coach Dave Jacobs, “For some oof them, it was their first game of serious basketball. They were up against some extremely experienced players, but they did well to hold their own. I look forward to building on this momentum next year.”
Well done to the team and a special thank you to Mr Jacobs who not only coached the team but also organised the day.
