Year 11 are looking quite dashing after their new Hospitality uniforms that arrived last week.
The class were suited up by local business Active Workwear who went above and beyond fitting the outfits for each student’s individual comfort. The uniforms are built to industry specifications and are ready for all of the wear, tear and stains that food service can throw at them.
The students christened their new uniforms with a tutorial on pizza dough. Not only was it an opportunity for the class to work on a delicious new recipe, it was a chance for them to take the skills they learned in Year 9 & 10 Food Technology up to industry standard.
“Wearing a uniform is important,” explains Hospitality teacher Kathy Gee, “It shows that you are qualified and helps to protect your clothes. It’s also makes you easily recognisable in the workplace.”
The class will work towards their Certificate 2 in Hospitality throughout the coming two years. In the meantime, however, the first order of business is to get the students job ready for their upcoming work experience at the end of Term 2.
The class will work on knife skills in the coming weeks. Specifically, they will be working on preparing tomatoes concassé and crushing garlic for bruschetta.
Looking good, Year 11!
