Wade Open Girls Touch Play Riverina Finals

Last Friday the Wade open girls touch football team returned to Wagga for the final leg of the touch football gala.

The girls were set to play Kooringal High School in the semi-finals after winning their pool at the beginning of March. Wade were up against tough conditions, with dewy grass and a slippery ball. Both teams started neck and neck.

After Wade scored the first try of the match, Kooringal soon matched them in a tit for tat game. Eventually, a try from Kooringal followed by an intercept try sealed their win 6-4.

Ruby Kenny Tess Jamieson, Milly Aitken and Daisy O’Connor were Wade’s try scorers. Ellie Matthews was also a standout in defence.

Kooringal were paired up against Wagga Wagga High School in the finals. Wagga Wagga won the day with a single point.
