Year 9 Hold Health Fair in Drama Room

Yesterday, Year 9 filled the drama room with health and wellbeing stalls for the annual PDHPE Health Fair.

The nine groups had to pick a topic to cover for their stall and create signage, reading materials and activities that would engage and educate the wider public. Among the topics they covered were nutrition, mental health, cyberbullying, road safety, physical activity and online safety.

The stalls covered the gamut of everything the class had studied throughout Year 9 PDHPE. The students were assessed on their research, aesthetics, creativity, audience engagement, accuracy of information and teamwork.

“The whole basis of PDHPE is harm minimisation,” explains PDHPE teacher Jessy McRae, “We’re giving students wellbeing and safety tools that they’ll use throughout their lives.”

The class will wrap up their safety-first unit before starting their Drive to Survive unit which will prepare them for their upcoming license test.
