Last Wednesday our 7-9 girls beat Marian in a friendly yet highly competitive cricket match for the 2025 Cudmore Shield.
The Wade girls bowled first, taking out Marian for 47 runs in 15 overs. Captain Chelsea Rand was dynamic in the field and taking every catch that came her way. Lian Bragais and Lomani Judd’s bowling showed promising technique and Phoebe Van Veen showed lightning quick reflexes to take an absolute screamer as wicket keeper, bringing their innings to a close.
Though Wade lost a few wickets, Megan Callcut and Matilda Poole steadied the ship with their partnership, winning the game with two balls to spare.
“The girls showed great sportsmanship,” recounts team coach Daniel Bozic, “They are all keen for the next opportunity to build on their cricket skills.”
