Year 11 SLR Feel The Burn in New Gym

Year 11 SLR have been trying out the new on-site gym facilities with a resistance training session.

The class learned about gym safety, proper technique in resistance training, spotting and gym etiquette in the lead up to the lesson. They then proceeded to work through a balanced, whole-body workout during the hour lesson.

SLR, which stands for Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation, teaches student the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle. It helps encourage them to make responsible and informed decisions and encourages students to reach their movement potential and to become physically active.

The gym, which was the brainchild of the PE faculty, will be used more extensively in the upcoming year. Staff envision running before school programs and training sessions for school teams in 2025, so watch this space.
