Year 10 have hatched their second batch of chicks this week as part of their poultry unit.
The school were generously supplied with fertilised Buff Leghorn and Campine eggs by community member Judy Allen. The eggs were kept at 37 degrees for 21 days with the humidity increased in the last week to help the baby chickens literally come out of their shells.
The students set the eggs, set up the brood box and then transferred the birds into the pen. They will now raise the hens to egg laying age.
Ag teacher Mark Duncan would like to thank Griffith Feed and Grain for their advice and support through the incubation and Judy Allen for the eggs.
