YES Program Gives Students Insight Into Salon Life

This term Wade students have been getting a taste of life in the nail salon as part of the YES program at TAFE Griffith.

The class learned about undercoats and applying nail polish today. They were taught the best way to apply a coat (with three strokes) and even dabbled in some nail art at the end of the lesson.

Throughout the term, the four Wade students have also explored all things hair and beauty; perfecting their makeup technique and learning to wash, cut and dye hair. They’ve also had an insight into the business of beauty from veterans in the industry.

The YES (Youth Engagement Strategy) Program gives students the opportunity to identify potential career pathways through vocational industries in a wide range of industries. Along with hairdressing, the YES program has also offered tasters in construction and automotive.
