Our Year 8s asked the big questions for their student research task.
The class were able to pick any topic, create a hypothesis around it, test it and then draw a conclusion. They presented their results on a poster and in a report.
Some of the topics covered were trying to find the best ratio of vinegar and bicarb soda, whether the shape of ice dictates the amount of time it takes for it to melt and evaporation.
“The discipline of creating and following a procedure is vital to the class’s scientific education,” explains teacher Wendy Murwood, “These students will use these skills into their senior years.”
The class will now move onto study ecosystems for their ecology unit.
