Year 8 Make Stained Glass Biscuits

Stained Glass Biscuits

Our Year 8s were down in the kitchen experimenting with stained glass biscuits earlier this month.

The biscuits are named after their striking glass-like centre. The coloured window is made from boiled lollies which are melted down. The biscuit is then formed around the edge of the lolly, thereby framing the delicious snack.

The class have explored a variety of different recipes and techniques throughout the food component of Mandatory Technology. The subject allows them to not only get a taste of subjects they may wish to pursue further, it also allows them to gain some essential practical skills like sewing, woodwork and basic cooking.

If you’d like to try out the stained glass biscuits for yourself, you can find the recipe on Taste here.
