Wade Dominate First Round of Rugby 7s

Wade Rugby Sevens

We had a very successful day of rugby union at the ACT Brumbies 7’s tournament in Griffith. Our senior boys won all their encounters in a multi-game series against Marian. The 9/10 boys team remained undefeated after four tough games where everyone put their body on the line. The junior boys could not be conquered and were absolutely dominant from start to finish. And our junior girls had two wins, a draw and one narrow loss.

I was pleased that so many newcomers to the sport of rugby union overcame their nerves, adapted to new rules and new skills, and were able to put in a performance that I was proud of.

Some memorable moments include Tauwalo Manila’s relentless aggression while still displaying classy sportsmanship, Wyatt Carter’s unstoppable speed down the wing which resulted in him being the leading try scorer of the day, the entire junior boys team who combined for a length-of-the-field try after the siren which involved multiple chip and chases, long cut out passes and a great finish by Mosese Tamanisave and of course, Leteischa Billing and “that tackle”!

More Rugby 7’s challenges await ahead and our players are now better prepared for what’s the come.
