Wade Sends Five Teams to Netball Gala Day

Wade Netball

On Friday, five teams represented our school at the NSW Netball Schools Cup in Griffith. We entered teams in the Year 7/8 Girls, Year 7/8 Boys, and Year 9/10 Girls divisions. Due to a fantastic number of boys trialling for the Year 9/10 division, we were able to form two teams — a Year 9 Boys team and a Year 10 Boys team.

All students played with great sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and school spirit throughout the day. It was a wonderful opportunity for our players to compete, develop their skills, and enjoy the game alongside schools from across the region.

We’re proud to announce that our Year 7/8 Boys, Year 9/10 Girls, and Year 9 Boys teams have qualified for Phase 2 of the competition, to be held in Wagga on Wednesday, September 4 (Week 7, Term 4).

A special mention goes to:

  • Dustin Krzus and Josh Turner from the Year 9 Boys team – Josh was strong in the shooting circle, while Dustin impressed with his impact through the mid-court in both attack and defence.
  • From the Year 7/8 Boys team, Marcus Charles showed great accuracy in shooting, Jack Jasnos was outstanding in both attack and defence across GS and GK, and Lane Curphey was exceptional in GA and WA.
  • In the Year 10 Boys team, Ted Files showed great shooting skills in GA, while Blake Forster was excellent in defence.
  • In the Year 9/10 Girls team — a highly experienced group with many having played together in the 15s Girls team that made state last year — Tess Jamieson was outstanding in the centre court, and Matilda Poole shone in the shooting positions.

A big thank you to Mr McCann and Miss Murdoch for coaching our teams, and to Mrs Poole for her support throughout the day.

We’d also like to thank our umpires — Emmy Smith, Wyatt Carter, Emma King, Kayley Morton, Ashleigh Sinclair, and Owen Robinson — for doing a fantastic job officiating across the day.

Well done to all involved — and good luck to our teams heading to Phase 2!
