Year 10 Child Studies have been keeping themselves entertained with home-made slime and playdoh this term as part of their Play and the Developing Child unit.
The class have been exploring different types of play in children of different ages and have investigated how play can encourage children to explore, solve problems, improvise and imagine.
The girls experimented with making slime from different materials like moisturiser, shaving cream and Elmers’s glue in different ratios. They also made a tried-and-true playdoh recipe which they then fashioned into all manner of colours and shapes.
“These simple activities showed the kids some easy ways to keep kids entertained,” explains Child Studies teacher Kathy Gee, “It’s a great reminder of all of the cheap alternatives to digital devices there are out there.”
The Year 10s will continue to study Play and the Developing Child throughout the term.
