On Monday, eight of our students competed in the first round CHS tennis comp at the Griffith Tennis Club.
Our four girls were fighting to win the Floris Conway Cup and the boys were after the Stan Jones Trophy. Wade faced Yanco Agricultural College in the second pairing of the day.
On the boys team, Beau-Scott Cooper made some great shots and Kalan Jasnos won his singles match against Yanco. Girls Elsie Barton and Ashleigh Sinclair also paired well in their doubles match, winning a set against the Agricultural College. Despite their best efforts, however, Yanco came out on top.
“Our players were very enthusiastic and were keen to have a hit,” recounts Tennis coach Kathy Gee, “Yanco were too strong however and rightly won the day. They were also extremely humble about the victory and showed great sportsmanship.”
Wade will unfortunately not proceed to the next round in the competition.
