Wade Take On Marian in First Round of Bill Turner Cup

Bill Turner Cup

The MRHS - Wade under 15s boys soccer team travelled to Marian Catholic College yesterday to play in the first round of the Bill Turner Cup. It was Wade's big return to the competition after a 5-year break.

The team played positively all game, with all 16 players giving everything they had. Wade defended stoutly and tried to score on the fast counterattack when they could. Marian were too strong in the end, winning 7-0, but Wade showed great potential for the future.

Wade's best players were Riley Harrison (Goal Keeper) who made many brilliant saves and went for an inspiring run up the field in the second half, Cooper Bastianon who captained the team and came closest to scoring, and David Eliu who organised the defence from central back.

The squad represented MRHS Wade with pride and enthusiasm, and although they are now knocked out of this competition, they are eager to return to the field next year for another local derby against their rivals Marian.
