Wade came out on top at yesterday’s thrilling Buckley Shield Gala Day and will now move onto the next round.
The under 15s rugby league team managed two narrow wins over Yanco and Hay before then facing off against a particularly strong Narrandera side. Luckily for the under 14s, the team were saving their best performance for last.
The boys put the hard-earned lessons from their first two matches of the day to use in the finals and dominated the game from the kick off, beating the considerably larger and more experienced Narrandera.
The standout players on the day were captain and leading try scorer Xavier Favero, big hitting defender Ahrmi Favero and the unstoppable ball carrier Alex Soane. Kurt Dela Cruz also proved himself the most improved after showing his versatility in 4 different positions throughout the day.
“By the finals, we were playing like a team who had been together for years,” explains team coach Daniel Bozic, “There was plenty of good sportsmanship on display and the boys can’t wait for the opportunity to take on more challenging opponents in the future.”
The boys will play on the winner of the Albury/Wagga Wagga pool in the coming weeks. Amazing work!
