Eight of our brightest tennis stars took on RAP last Friday at the Griffith Tennis Club.
The team of four boys and four girls were of mixed experience and ability but played with their whole heart. The boys and the girls teams played 8 matches in total, with each player playing a singles and a doubles match.
Soham Ghosh, Wyatt Carter, Beau Castle and Alias Manila managed to beat RAP on points. Soham, a late comer roped into the tournament by Elsie Barton, was a huge boon to the team and wildcard late entry Alias, who was brought onto the team at the very last minute, helped the boys secure the win.
Elsie Barton, Megan Callcut, Chelsea Rand and Lucy Windbacher unfortunately didn’t fare as well. Though the team lost to RAP it did open a dialogue between the girls about training and coming back to the compete stronger next year.
“It was a really nice day for tennis, we were lucky that the rain cleared,” explains tennis coach Kathy Gee, “The players and staff from RAP are lovely people and good sports.”
Thank you to the Griffith Tennis Club for hosting the comp. If you are interested in exploring tennis, the club have a variety of opportunities to play on their website.
