Expressions of interest are invited from individuals interested in a position to join the Aboriginal Learning Engagement Centre as an Aboriginal School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) at Murrumbidgee Regional High School-Wade, in Griffith NSW.
About the role
We are looking for interested applicants to work at the school with specific students across all year groups. Student focus will be on wellbeing, literacy and numeracy and Aboriginal cultural activities.
The position will be in a temporary capacity for five days a week for the 2025 school year.
The successful applicant will be working alongside teaching staff across various spaces across the school. This is an identified position.
Selection criteria
- The Aboriginal SLSO duties focus primarily on assisting teachers to engage Aboriginal students in learning, school activities and in school routines by: Aboriginality
- Understandings of the needs of Aboriginal students.
- Knowledge of the local Aboriginal community and Aboriginal culture.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to interact with Aboriginal parents/carers and students.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the department Aboriginal Education and Training policies.
- Experience working as part of a team.
Essential requirements for the role
This position is targeted to the employment of an Aboriginal person. When applying for the role applicants must provide confirmation of Aboriginality and a certified declaration upon interview as defined in the Confirmation of Aboriginality Guidelines.
Applicants must hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check).
