Yesterday our Captains and Vice Captains got to rub shoulders with celebrities and up and coming young leaders from across NSW at Young Leaders Day in Sydney.
The students flew down on Sunday for an evening of shopping and eating around Darling Harbour before attending the big event at the International Convention Centre on Monday.
The conference allowed the Wade students to network with hundreds of student leaders from across NSW. Our Students Leadership Team (SLT) also got to hear from guest speakers NSW Premier Chris Minns, Australian Olympian Emma McKeon, Young Australian of the Year Dr. Nikhil Autar and Catherine Laga-aia, who will be playing Moana in the new live action film.
“They thought it was really good,” recounts Student Leadership Team supervisor Matt Ingles, “They liked hearing the success stories, but they really appreciated hearing about the obstacles and self-doubt the speakers had to overcome on their journeys.”
“The captains and vice captains also picked up some strategies to bring a bit of energy to our assemblies and to make them a bit more engaging for students, so we will be looking to implement that in the coming weeks,” adds Mr Ingles.
